So what is life like in Africa? Well, I live in Kampala, the capital of Uganda. It is home to about 2.8 million people. I generally have electricity and running water, as well as a home which is fairly modern (brick and cinder block with a tile roof) in style. No, I don't live in a grass and mud hut. But I have friends and neighbors who do live in that type of home.
I'm only about 3 miles off Lake Victoria, which I can see every day as I drive the 21+ hills of Kampala. It is a beautiful view. The Lake is the second largest fresh water lake in the world (second to Lake Superior).
There is a huge amount of constructioin going on right now in Kampala, as the city and nation preps for the CHOGM (Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting) to be held here in November. Hotels, restuarants, and roads are all being constructed and improved as everyone works to contribute to the meetings.
